Same time tomorrow?

I don't remember where I heard or read this joke, but I like it.

An elderly man in Washington, DC, walks by the White House each day. On January 21, he approaches one of the Marine guards in front of the White House and asks if this is where President Bush lives.

The Marine replies, "Mr. Bush is no longer President. He doesn't live here any more. President Barack Obama lives here now."

The following day, the man returns. He asks the same Marine the same question, and gets the same reply: "Mr. Bush is no longer President. He doesn't live here any more. President Barack Obama lives here now."

The third day, he returns and asks his question yet again. The Marine replies, "Sir, I have explained to you yesterday and the day before. Mr. Bush is no longer President. He doesn't live here any more."

"I know," says the man. "I just love hearing it."

The Marine smiles. "Same time tomorrow, sir?"

Hire Shelley

Shelley Powers is one of the most talented web professionals I know. If you have a web project, she's probably written a book about how to do it. She uses her sites as a sandbox for the latest technologies and comes up with stunning results.

Why do I mention this? Because with the economy in the doldrums, Shelley's looking for work, either writing or helping build sites. Check out her "hire me" page.

What do you mean there is no cat?

"You see, wire telegraph is a kind of a very, very long cat. You pull his tail in New York and his head is meowing in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? And radio operates exactly the same way: you send signals here, they receive them there. The only difference is that there is no cat."

- Albert Einstein, explaining radio
