The British learn to serve their beer cold

I love Newcastle Brown Ale. If it’s not my favorite beer in the world, it’s definitely in the top two or three. But this just seems like an abomination. Absolutely revolting. (Found via Kottke.)

I can’t believe that this doesn’t sound good to you. The british have candy known as barley sugar, which is really just barley malt. And since Newcastle Brown Ale is a minimally hopped beer, it is really just like barley sugar.

i hear that one of our local gourmet ice cream makers has a killer chocolate and guiness flavor. i’ll have to check it out. (don’t worry, i won’t force it on you during your next visit to columbus.)

The weirdest ice cream store I ever saw was in New Hope, Pennsylvania back when I was a teenager [mumble mumble] years ago. I wish I could remember more of the flavors they offered, but this one sticks in my mind as a stellar example: Ukrainian Rose Petal. Mmmmm, that sounds good.
