Three Hour Tour

Pelican in mid-flight

Another way to see St. Augustine is from the water. The ride promised to be smoother than the trolleys, so we went. First, though, we decided to have lunch. Later on, someone else had lunch. Plus, more coquina! (Oh, and the tour really only took about an hour.)

I’ve really been enjoying these trip reports, especially the photos. But I love the pelican. It’s may favorite bird.

Wonderful photos. Thanks bunches.

Lone pelicans are dramatic and weird. In "V" formations, groups of them fly in synchronicity. The lead bird will flap his wings, then the 2 behind him will follow and so on. What you get is analogous to the "WAVE" from sports fans in the stands. It is awesome and poetic.
