A huge orangupoid, which no man can conquer

26-23

If the field goal attempt bounces off the right upright, is it still considered wide right? Or would that be narrow right?

Ah, there’s nothing like a good defensive struggle. When the game is close and both defenses are dominating the offenses, every play is a potential disaster in the making. The tension is incredible. The high scoring shootouts may thrill the lazy occasional fan, but there’s nothing like the shot or ten of adrenaline from watching a good defensive struggle.

It’s going to be a few hours before I can go to sleep tonight. I knew I should have taken tomorrow off. When my boss asked a few weeks ago if anyone was taking any days off in January, I replied that it depended on how Penn State’s bowl game went. Little did I know it would go to triple overtime....

That was quite a game. Some co-workers here were upset that it wasn’t a blowout. I thought it was exciting, except the third quarter started to drag a little.

3OTs wore me out. I was glad that Kelly and I didn’t travel out to Ambler, PA to watch the game at a party with one of her friends. We would have had to leave early or get home at 2:30.

Because of the long Orange Bowl, I was too tired to watch the Rose Bowl last night beyond halfway through the third quarter. I can’t believe I was pulling for USC, but they were playing Texas. I guess Vince Young had something to prove after being skipped for the Heismann and then everyone hyping up USC’s potential Three-peat(R).

I know what you mean about the Orange Bowl wearing you out. I practically had to prop my eyes open with toothpicks for the Rose Bowl. But it was worth it, particularly the last six minutes or so. It was, amazingly, even better than the Orange Bowl, although I didn’t get the adrenaline rush out of it that I got out of the Orange Bowl, since I didn’t ultimately care which team won, at least not going in. (In a perfect world, both teams would lose, but barring an overturning of the laws of physics or something, that wasn’t really possible.)

That said, I found myself rooting, against my better judgement, for Texas rather than USC as the game went on. Vince Young was amazing, and Reggie Bush wasn’t. (A *lateral*???) Matt Leinert sounded like a whiny baby after the game when he complained that USC was still the better team. Get over it, dude. Totally ungracious.
